One strip of contrarail is made of 0.3 mm thin, strong nickel silver, with a length of 28 cm (11 inch). By bending the tabs 90 degrees with pliers, the contrarail can be soldered on the foot of Code 100 rail (2.54 mm high standard H0 rail by Peco, Roco etc). The rail has to be removed from the plastic sleepers and to be soldered on copper clad board (from C+L Finescale for example). After painting the rail rust brown, not much is to be seen of the tabs. Thanks to the tabs, you can curve the rail, without this seeing this on the contrarail itself.
After installing the contrarail, you will have a groove width of about 1.5 mm (0.06 inch), where the contrarail is lower than the track rail itself, so the track is easy to clean.
Set containing 12 strips of each 28 cm (total of 336 cm for 168 cm track).
Tramfabriek & Son
Luc and Sven van der Hart
My name is Sven van der Hart (1970) and live in Eton Wick in England. I started designing the first small model steam tramway locomotive in 2012, as it wasn’t available at that time. Initially it was only for myself, but very soon people discovered that I was making this very detailed loco, and even before it was finished, the first orders came in and the Tramfabriek was born.
For my modelling, I needed specific parts which were hard to find. The parts I couldn't buy, I had made. As I wasn't the only one who was looking for those parts, I shared them on my webstore. With those parts, the customer base started to grow and it became a full time business.
Feel free to contact me if you have a question. I normally respond very quick (remind me, if you didn’t receive an answer in three days, I get a LOT of email).
Regular updates on model building, all my other creative inspiration and behind-the-scenes photos you can find on my Facebook page.
